The most important design fair in the world is, undoubtedly, Milan’s Design Fair. Hosting almost 400 thousand guests, it gathers the very best of international design, and everyone falls down for its seduction.
The whole city is devoted to living the design experience during that week, when the agenda is not only conformed by the official circuits, but also by alternate exhibitions created by curators, which invite everyone to join the party.
Mexico has had a steady presence in such scenario and Jalisco is, without a doubt, its most striving representative, by always attending the event.
In this 2013 edition, Joaquin Homs and Laura Noriega represented the talent from Jalisco.
This first delivery will abound on Joaquín Homs, whose participation went hand in hand with POINT, a well-acknowledged Spanish design firm, with a 90-year trajectory. For 9 decades, POINT has developed an entire artisan tradition for the manufacture, commercialization, and export of furniture made in plaited fiber.
In every collection, POINT is committed to honor the freedom of living outdoors while being at home. Hence, they specifically requested Joaquin Homs to be part of the group of international designers who works with them.
The partnership between POINT and Homs took place under the best scope possible, as during his trajectory, Homs has stood out as a specialist in residential design and the hotel industry. The designs that the architect –who was born in Guadalajara- created for the Spanish company are the perfect blend between the Mexican culture and POINT’s fiber expertise. As POINT felt truly delighted by this collection, they used it as their highest card at this 2013 edition of Milan’s Design Fair, with outstanding results. Moreover, they will continue to work together, as Homs is currently working on a new set of pieces that will be designed exclusively for them.
The success of Homs’ work not only uplifts Guadalajara’s talent in the most exuberant celebration of design, but also demonstrates the export capabilities that Jalisco’s creative industry has.
